Chandan Thakore opened new horizons in classical dance by transforming the staged presentation of Traditional Bharatnatyam Dance of the past with innovative ways in the atricalizing dance form. For the same he has experimented with the form and also with the medium for his choreographies by blending the Uttar Hindustani Music with South Indian Dance in Hindi, Gujarati & Sanskrit devotional songs, ancient as well as modern. The below mentioned dance recitals are his significant innovations.

  • PUSHPANJALI (TIME DURATION-8:25)
    • Pushpanjali is a dance of welcome to the audience, wherein different geometric patterns are presented in a fast rhythmic mood. This is a first of its own kind attempt by Shri Chandan, wherein traditional and conventional form comes together to life on the stage.
  • THE DANCENRITYA (TIME DURATION-9:15)
    • Nritya-The dance is the item of pure joy and zest, which brings life to our lives. Through The Dance we get to learn to enjoy the ups and downs of our life just the way there one up and downs in music nodes.
  • VIGHNAVINAYAKAM (HINDI, TIME-9:35)
    • In keeping with classical Indian tradition, the dance is in worship of Vighnaharta, Lord Ganesha [Destroyer of hurdles], His two wives – Riddhi & Siddhi and “Mushak” [a mouse], wherein the whole happy family has been described.
  • PANCHAAYATAN DEVTA (SANSKRIT, TIME-8:00)
    • This choreography is based on the celestials of this earth, Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Hari (Vishnu), Lord Bhaskara (Sun) – God of light and Goddess Ambaa. Herein it has been tried to portray each of the Gods and Goddesses in pure Bharatnatyam style.
  • GOVIND LEELA (VRAJ HINDI, TIME-9:07)
    • This choreography takes you to the childhood of Lord Krishna. Wherein we have tried to describe the love-bond shared by Krishna and His mother Yashoda, and also that of Krishna and His beloved Radha. The beautiful dance sequence of Raaslila is enchanting.
  • ARDHA-NARESHWARI (SANSKRIT, TIME-11:06)
    • Herein the energy of the divine “SHAKTI” is portrayed that cannot be separated from “SHIVA”. To show the unity between “PURUSHA” and “PRAKRITI”, Shiva took Parvati as part of himself in his form of “Ardhanareshwari”. This dance is based on this “Ardhanaritandava”.
  • JAAG NE JAADVA (GUJARATI, TIME-7:18)
    • The dance recital depicts the unconditional love of mother towards her child. Mother Yashoda tries to wake up young Lord Krishna and pursue him to take cows for grazing. His denials followed by mother’s pursuance – the emotional bond shared by the twosome, surely reminds audience of their own childhood days.
  • KRISHNA SUDAMA (GUJARATI, TIME-7:16)
    • In different dance styles, many dance composition, are based on the great friendship shared by Krishna and Sudama. We have also depicted the same in this dance choreography.
  • GAJANAN STUTI (HINDI, TIME-7:26)
    • Gajanan Stuti is based on traditional dance form by using different musical instruments actually within the dance makes the experimentation, by the dancers.
  • AN ELEMENT OF HANUMAN CHALISA (VRAJ HINDI, TIME-10:00)
    • The part of famous “Hanuman Chalisa” is portrayed in this dance recital. Lord Hanuman’s life is depicted in this choreography and also the unconditional devotion of Lord Hanuman towards Lord Rama is vividly described.
  • JALAKAMAL (GUJARATI, TIME-11:44)
    • JalaKamal is a very well known poem in Gujarati literature, which is written by Krishna Bhakta Shri Narsinh Mehta. In this dance sequence the incident of Kaliyadaman is described.
  • MAHISHASUR MARDINI (SANSKRIT, TIME-10:00)
    • This dance sequence portrays the Durga form of Shakti wherein Mother Shakti brings peace to her children by destroying the demon “Mahishasur”.
  • SHIV TAANDAVA (GUJARATI, TIME-6:43)
    • This dance item portrays the rare form of Lord Shiva, wherein he performs Taandava dance, while the sound of his Damru shakes the Universe.
  • RANG DEVTA STUTI TIME-9:17)
    • In the tradition of Indian Classical Dance, the stage is considered as God. So, with a view to worship the STAGE, the dancer through ‘Rang Devta Stuti’ present their extra-ordinary faculty of dance by getting completely involved in Dance.
  • HEY CHANDRAMAULI! (GUJARATI, TIME-10:12)
    • “Hey Chandramauli”! “Hey Chandrashekhar”! is the dance recital devoted to Lord Shiva portraying  the qualities of Lord Shiva.
  • TUM BIN MORI (VRAJ HINDI, TIME-7:00)
    • This choreography is based on Mirabai’s pada (poem) – “Tum Bin Mori Kaun Khabar Le”. The dancer calls for the help of Lord Krishna to save her from the worldly bonds.
  • RANG POOJA (TIME-8:28)
    • In this dance recital “Rang Pooja”, the artist’s offers flowers to the stage thereby showing the deep faith for the stage and then after dedicates one’s own art to the God by initiating the dance in the feet of “Lord Natraj”-The Dancing God.
  • SHREE GANAPATIM (SANSKRIT, TIME-5:25)
    • In Hindu tradition, the first adorable and reverable God-Lord Ganesha is the chief deity of the basic support. Also, the description of the various visions of this intellectual God-Lord Ganesha is just divine which is depicted in this dance recital “Shree Ganapatim”.
  • JAYATI JAYATI JAGNIVAS (GUJARATI, TIME-5:01)
    • This dance recital “Jayati Jayati Jagnivas”, is a prayer of Lord Shiva who is the supporter of the unsupported ones, the desire fulfiller of his devotees, the destroyer of evils and the giver of salvation.
  • DEKH SAKHI RI! (VRAJ HINDI, TIME-9:43)
    • This dance recital “Dekh Sakhi Ri” is based on Lord Krishna and it is choreographed on the composition of poetess Mirabai-the great devotee of Lord Krishna.
  • SHIV PANCHAKSHAR STOTRAM (SANSKRIT, TIME-8:30)
    • It is based on five Sanskrit Alphabets - ‘Na’, ‘Mah’, ‘Shi’, ‘Vaa’, ‘Ya’. Here we have tried to narrate the adventures of lord Shiva and tried to describe Him by means of these Alphabets.
  • THILANA
    • In this dance recital, the pure dance is shown in different geometrical patterns and at the end, an excellent literary work full of expressions is depicted. Here the dancers delights the audience with the fast-paced, intricate, scintillating steps that are threaded together to create a fire-cracker finale. Tilana based on Raag Hindolam, Desh, Aarbhi, Shankra and Dhaneshri has been composed by Chandan Thakore.
