Shri Chandan Thakore, a vibrant personality in classical dance
“Bharatnatyam” has taken up dance as his full time career and is
actively involved with the activities of Nrityabharti through
teaching, performing and choreographing, with the aim of propagating
the art of Bharatnatyam in India and Abroad
He has trained 5000 students of whom about 500 students have
performed their First Solo Performance – “Arangetram” and many have
obtained National Scholarship from Government of India and many have
successfully passed their “Master Degree” in Bharatnatyam.
Extending the horizons of Bharatnatyam to international levels, he
has also trained students from East African and European countries
for their First Solo Performance – “Arangetram” which was presented
successfully and highly appreciated by the audience.
Shri Chandan Thakore has given a new dimension to the Traditional
Bharatnatyam Dance with his innovative ways and has reached a new
zenith by atricalizing the dance form as if it were a visual
symphony and breaking the barriers of languages by creatively
introducing Hindi, Gujarati & Sanskrit medium in his dances. His
forays into choreography have produced more than 25 most significant
Group Choreographies and some Dance Ballets in classical dance on
conceptualizing themes from Indian mythology and contemporary
thoughts.
He laid the foundation of the performing group “Nrityabharti
Performing Arts” which has given more than 250 National &
International level Performances of his master-piece compositions.
The mega event “THE NATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL” is his brainchild,
wherein the budding and renowned artists from all over the country
are invited at Ahmedabad, and are given a platform to perform. And
he is conducting this dance festival successfully every year since
2000 which is a land mark of Ahmedabad city to bring the best of
dance world together to the city. Since 2008, every year he conducts
the classical dance workshop at India, Austria and China.
He organizes as well as conducts workshops & seminars,
festivals, lectures and demonstrations for the promotion of
classical dance. Also, he has been appointed as the Examiner for the
conduction of Alankar & P.H.F Exams in Dance
In recognition his dedication and contribution in the field of
Bharatnatyam, he is honoured Singarmani”, “Kalagurjari”, “Gujarat
Yuva Pratibha Sanman” by Padmashree Darshana Zaveri (Manipuri
Exponent) and Nrityacharya Award titled “Nrityakala Prachar Ratna”
by Governor of Gujarat Shri Kailaspati Mishra. His perseverance,
dedication and talent have triumphed him Senior Cultural Scholarship
in 1996 from The Ministry of Human Resources, Department of Culture,
Government of India and he is also a graded artiste of Indian
Television.
